Saints are models of perfect Christian life

We live in a world of models in media. Models promote something. The wear what they promote. They speak about what they promote. They advertise what they are paid for to advertise. Models or advertisers have to be notable people, they must be famous, influential, influencer, and marketers.

Saints are models of perfect Christian Life. Ut unlike advertisers, Saints are men and women rewarded with the crown of Holiness because they lived holy lives. Saints are men and women who exemplified Christian Virtues and Values.

They advertise to us their products or areas they champion, or values they personify, but they have one common goal and mean and that is Holiness, Holiness is the way towards Divine Life.

St. Padre Pio and St. John Vianney advertise the Sacrament of Confession.

St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Gema Galgani, Catherine of Siena, Margaret Mary Allacoque are saints of the Eucharist.

Sts. Teresa of Calcutta, Martin De Pores, Francis of Assisi, Bernadette of SOubirous, are saints of the poor and the down trodden.

Sts. Oscar Romero, John Paul II, Peter Claver are saints of Social Justice.

Saints became saints because of their experiences, struggles and advocacies.

Martyrs became Blessed because of suffering and persecution.

Peacemakers became Saints because of their enormous advocacy for peace.

Saints are the blessed ones who fought and spoke about justice.

We know our patron Saints, and we celebrate them today. But equally important is to imitate their example, and reecho the messages their individual lives stood for today. Celebrating all Saints Day is about contemplating their lives, their examples and how they became gifts for the Church and Humanity.

We are all Saints because God has chosen us to be heirs of heaven upon our Baptism. But being a Saint here and now entails conscious effort to take up your cross daily.

May this day remind us of our God-given purpose and mission.
